From the 90's into 2000 I did a series of about 80 paintings (22x30) on various watercolor papers. They are called the liquid sky. I creased, cut, scored and folded the paper and then poured and painted thin liquid acrylic paint and watercolor crayon onto the prepared shaped surface. Gravity did its work and I watched and tended the flow as the image came into being. This is a collage from two paintings that I cut up and rearranged into this and other works. Part of these paintings also went into the painting split decision in the archives. I originally thought of this as being a pure abstraction. I found it again recently and it's been moving around my studio. I like it with all four sides as top, but now like it least with my signature at the bottom. I guess we change, and that's good. |
